#31DC2013 Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

I was nervous for today, I love what I've seen others do for inspired by fashion challenges and I'm not that fashion focused, but it was really very easy and fun. So if you feel the same and haven't tried it I say you should go for it!

Here is my inspiration for this challenge:

#33DC Day 1 - Dots

Whoa, whoa self, what are you doing? You aren't even done your other challenge! This is insane, but here we go, I'm starting another. I think I'm addicted.

Dots are incredibly versatile. I really do love them. I used the dots as a gradient here and I feel like I've got pastel teal fizzy drink on my nails, but maybe that's just me.

What do you think of my pastel combination? Thanks for visiting, see you tomorrow for #31DC2013 or on Wednesday for day 2, most used colour. And if you want to participate check out our facebook group here, this challenge is every Mon, Wed, Fri and should be a lot of fun.

#31DC2013 Day 11 - Polka Dots

I love dotticiures, they are fun, easy and very versatile.

This was inspired by the absolutely glorious black and white manicure done by MyNailPolishOnline. She did a great job and I wanted recreate it for today.

I'm completely happy with this, the red and white work very well together in my opinion. Tell me what you think though, what's your opinion on this dotticure?

Teal Gradient With Dot Accents

Yay! I'm so happy to show this to you! This is my first post for Teal Tuesdays and I had a lot of fun doing it, it was sort of a surprise favourite. I had initially just done the gradient to play with a couple new teals I had, and once it was on I wanted to do something a little more fancy with it.
I was staring into my nail supply stuff and thought, okay well dots are always nice, and they are, but what I like is that the lightest colour and the darkest colour look so much lighter or darker respectively when contrasted like they are. It ties things together nicely too if I do say so myself.

Anyways, picture spam! Here you go.

Woo! If I were to do this again I'd wait a couple seconds more before top coating, I smudged a couple dots and it bothered me, but what can you do? Hope you liked it!

Silver Circles on Mint and Pink

Take a look at this design internet!
I love these two colours together, they are Essie Fiji and GOSH Mint. I started this mani without any plan, I just knew I wanted these two colours complementing each other.
Once it was done I chose GOSH Silver to accent it and used my dotting tool to make some differently sized dots. Then I just filled them in with smaller dots of the original colour. With a good top coat over it everything was smoothed out and it didn't look like concentric dots anymore but actual silver circles. Yay!
What do you think? I like this as a nice simple way to jazz up plain old polish.

Orange Dotted Design

Here is another design for you fine folks. It's entirely different from what I set out to do, I was aiming for delicate swirling leaves and then I glanced over at my crazy orange acrylic paint and was like "eh, why not?" and ended up with this.

I used Color Club Tangerine Scream, Misa Heaven White and Wet 'n Wild Black Creme for the polish portion, the dots. I used Golden Pyrrole Orange #2276-1 Series 8 for the base.

I had originally just done my left hand and I wasn't sure if I would keep it or just put it on the back burner until Halloween rolled around, but then my boyfriend and I went grocery shopping, with me and my only one hand of polish, and our cashier said she loved my nails! So then I had to keep it. I figured I'd use it as an opportunity to experiment with the same design and different colours (Color Club What A Shock! and Electro Candy, and this is what I ended up with.

What do you think? In October I think all orange will be fine, but colour combinations are pretty fun to experiment with too.

Tape Troubles and a Dot Design

This began with wanting to test out some beautiful new polish I got for my birthday. The two colours are both from Gosh, the mint is called 597 Miss Minty and the other is 540 Ocean. I'd first attempted to do something fun with taping but it went oh so horribly. I guess I hadn't waited long enough, despite leaving it for another hour every time it still pulled up all the polish below and let me just say now, never again shall I try to tape without sleeping or going about my day first to be sure it really is dry. Look at all the tape I cut into tiny little strips! Grawr!
Individually cut cause I'm crazy

So after metaphorically ripping out my hair for a few hours I gave it up as a bad job and turned to Pixel's Polish for a tutorial I had read while watching polish dry. Thank you for saving my sanity and for this absolutely adorable design idea.

It was quite simple to do and got a lot of compliments. I chose to only dot out one of the sides with stylized drips in mind and I'm pretty happy with how that turned out. I also really like these colours together, although maybe the thickness of Miss Minty is to blame for my taping troubles I forgive it since it's quite pretty, and the shimmer on Ocean is beautiful, this picture doesn't do it justice.
