So here it is, my submission for Polish Days. The category this month is Sentimental, and for that theme I've chosen to post a water marble design for you all.

Water marbling is what got me back into nail art after a long time of not doing it at all. You can see my first ever water marble at the end of this post, and it wasn't amazing but it really got me geared up to grow my nails and improve my designs as well as start this blog.

To do this water marble I used a base coat of Revlon LilyChrome, which was interesting since I still have a patch on my right pinky and chrome polishes show every bump and imperfection. Because of that I worked hard to get a pattern on my pinky that would make the patch as unnoticeable as possible. How did I do?

I used Wet n Wild Lady Luck and Wet n Wild 9.0.2.1.Orange for the colours and interspersed OPI Don't Touch My Tutu in order to really let the silver show through, since it is a very sheer white. Then I dotted 9.0.2.1.Orange in curving lines to compliment the water marble and add a bit more orange to the design (and to cover any bubbles or flaws in the water marble, but shhh). I used orange gems to do an accent nail on each hand as well.

Did you notice? On my right hand I ended up with two very different fingers, but I just had to keep them, I absolutely adore the way they turned out. Anyways, thanks for reading! Click below the line to see my old water marble design, and be sure to take a look at all of these other bloggers to see what they came up with for Sentimental!
And here is my first ever water marble! Click to see it.
Oh short little nails, there you are.
This isn't too tidy but I'm fond of it. Every finger is so different and the white dots weren't so obvious in person, I remember that.
I feel like with some judicious cleanup and touch-ups this could be really great, and it was oh so much fun.
Thanks for going down memory lane with me. Tell me about or link me to your first or most meaningful design if you want!
I think you're one of the few people who feel sentimental about water marbles rather than angered! Awesome work!
ReplyDeletehaha yea, I understand why everyone gets so frustrated with it but it'll always hold a special place in my heart.
DeleteLool what a difference XD You've really improved! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh I know right? That's why I hid it in the click down section XD Thanks a bunch!
DeleteI love water marbles, although I need to get better at them. I think those white spots in the first one are bubble, I get those ALL the darn time!
ReplyDeleteYea they are, you can just dab a tiny bit of the colour the white spot is in if you do get them, plus being very gentle and smooth with your motions, but some polishes just bubble more easily. I still have improving to do, water marbles are hard.
DeleteWow. Your technique has certainly improved in leaps and bounds. I'm both fascinated and terrified of this technique. I love watching YouTube videos of it but you just know that it's a hell of a lot harder than some of thos vloggers make it seem:)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely is, but it's a lot of fun too, something about polish floating and spreading on water is just so fascinating and neat!
